| | | | Review Title: Bad!!! Bad!!!!!! | | | | | | Reviewer: Anonymous | | | | Review Date: 1/10/05 | | | | | | | Rate This Apartment | | | | | | | When we first moved in the apartment was brand new, we were the first tenants, so that was good. However there were things that was missing.Like a closet door for example.Broken windows, broken A/C that emitted no cool air, and a dryer that did not emit hot air.A week after we moved in they finally got everything fixed, everything was kosher.Until the random false fire alarms that would sporadically go off in the wee hours of the night. One time it would be at noon when I was in the shower.Another time it would be at 4 a.m. when we were in bed.It was ridiculous and it was all triggered by a faulty alarm system. Not only that were the neighbors loud and obnoxious with their surraound sound thumping bass and their annoying techno. We would call security and they would take an hour to respond, which they would respond with giving the noisy neighbors a 'verbal warning' only to have them turn the music up again.By the time they called the cops and authorities came, it was 3 hours later and we've already stayed up all night. One time we called security and I guess they accidentally picked up the phone but didn't realize it, so we overheard their conversation in the background. They were discussing how many calls they get regarding the security issues so they usually just put the phone on silent and go to sleep. What kind of security is that? After a while of bad response from security, we decided to just call the cops ourselves. When the cops come, security took the cops to our door, and had the audacity to ask us why we didn't call security first.I'm not sure exactly what happened as far as the structure of security in our building because shortly after, we got a note under our door regarding security's job description is to 'survey the perimeters only' and for all concerns regarding noise we 'should not contact security but call the Salt Lake City Police Department instead.'While we are on the topic of flyers, boy oh boy did this apartment kill a lot of trees by passing out redundant flyers. If it is not security's issues, it is another issue with the double doors that will not lock. All the doors in this building locks automatically, all doors except the double doors in the visitor's parking that is reluctantly unlocked at all times.Instead of just installing a controlled access system where residents can authorize visitors in, the management stubornly refuses and takes every measure to keep those doors locked, even to when they had to bolt (yes, bolt!) the doors shut.Isn't this a fire hazard?Well soon enough someone broke those locks and the doors were open again. So again we got flyers under our door about warnings that if anyone is caught propping the doors open to let people in, they will be fined.Again, it will be rather beneficial and a lot less hustle and bustle if a simple control access system was installed.Another issue is parking. The parking structure is... how should I put it... TERRIBLE!When we moved here my roommate and I were assured two parking spaces which we requested next to each other. After signing the lease and the parking spaces were assigned, we were informed that one of us would park on the first floor, the other on the fourth floor. The thing is, we live on the second floor and you would think in a two bedroom we should be reserved the two parking spaces on the same floor we live on.When the second month's rent was due we were advised it would be an additional $40 for the second parking space. When asked to look at the lease agreement, nowhere on there did it state the additional $40, but the management said it is implied. As a courtesy they did assign us parking spaces on the second floor due to the inconvenience. So that was that, at least that's what we thought. But no, it was just too good to be true.A few months later the management left a note on everyone's door that parking has been reassigned and from the notice, it appeared that we were only allowed one parking space. The day the new parking structure went into effect we got yet another note on our door that all cars must be moved to their assigned space by 5 p.m. or else they will be towed.Around noon, I went out to move my car only to find that is was not there.Apparently the apartment has decided to tow my car because it was in the wrong spot. However, someone else was in the spot my car was reassigned to.Not only that, we were only reassigned one spot, when, if you remember, we are paying for two.My roommate's car, along with every car there, were all parked in their old parking space, but for some odd reason my car was the ONLY car that was towed. So I went to the management and explained the situation and asked to be refunded the $140 to get my car out of the impound lot.Management of course refused, but when I reminded them that since they don't have a lease for me, I could move out any time I want and by all means, this was the last straw. Not only did they tow my car and no one else' for being in the wrong spoit, they didn't re-assign us two parking spaces, and guess what... the reassigned space for the second car is on the 4th floor. So let me get this straight... I am paying $40 extra a month to scrape the snow off my car?Even visitors get covered parking. How is that fair?Oh I forgot to mention, management lost our lease.Which means my social security and other vital information is floating out there somewhere.Obviously the management is very disorganized. If the management is a dog this is the part I would say BAD MANAGEMENT!BAD!!!Oh, and the elevators are slow as fock!Take it from me, do not live here.Have a nice day. | | | | |
